PDS Defense, Inc. is seeking a Entry Level Aerospace Fabrication Specialist, in North Charleston, SC. Job ID#214554

 

Job Description:

Performs machine set-up, machining, welding set-up, welding, sheet metal fabrication and extrusion, tube bending and fabrication tasks. Performs composite lay-up, fabrication and assembly tasks. Assembles precision mechanical and electro-mechanical components. Assembles, repairs, modifies and installs various power plants and drive trains. Perform soldering on electronic and avionics products. Assembles and installs wire harnesses and avionics products. Prepares test articles, fixtures and data collection devices to perform various tests. Performs basic organic chemical conversion and paint preparation. Applies routine organic coatings for corrosion protection and appearance requirements. Works on articles of moderate complexity using established drawings and requirements.

o Ability to work a variable shift.
o Ability to meet physical demands of the role such as: flexion and extension (head bent down, head bent back), handling, kneeling, bending at the waist, reaching overhead, rotation of head/neck, standing, twisting at the waist and walking, climbing/balancing (stairs, ladders, poles, scaffolding, inclined surfaces), crawling, crouching (squatting).
o Ability to carry and lift up to 10-35 pounds.
o Ability to work with High Hazard Chemicals.
o 3 months+ experience using software applications for internet navigation, email, Microsoft Suite and/or other specialized computer applications.
o 3 months+ experience utilizing and following detailed work instructions, reading, and interpreting blueprints, drawings, or specifications, in English.
o 3 months+ experience in a technical or mechanical field performing work with basic hand, power and/or pneumatic (air) tools.

Technical/Software Skills needed to perform this role:
o conventional material layup, precision measuring, power, pneumatic and hand tools.
o CNC experience.
o Crane Operations experience.
o experience reading and interpreting drawings, specifications, material processes, schematic and diagrams in aviation.

Education / Experience:   
Education/experience typically acquired through basic education (e.g. high school diploma/GED).
